How the 5000 m/s Music Festival was born

In the summer of 2024, the idea of creating the 5000 m/s Music Festival came to life. When the festival’s CEO,

Valtteri Mönkö, held his farewell party at the Veturimuseo, the collaboration with Museoveturiseura ry couldn’t have gone better.

The enthusiasm to continue organizing festivals at Veturimuseo was mutual.

The skilled, active, and daring Museoveturiseura ry proved to be an excellent partner in bringing new life to Akaa’s cultural scene.

A big thank you also goes to Museoveturiseura’s chairman, Simo Tuominen, whose organizational skills, knowledge, and energy played a essential role in making the festival happen.

Thank you, Veturimuseo, thank you Museoveturiseura, and every active volunteer. It’s amazing to work with you.

The first 5000 m/s Music Festival was held on July 23, 2025, at Veturimuseo

The challenge of our concept drew attention from both the audience and the media after our first summer: we succeeded in combining a weekday evening, an age‑limit‑free policy, and an alcohol‑free atmosphere into a raw and authentic experience.

Warm and sunny weather was on our side, spoiling festivalgoers under the birches in the museum yard. The coolness of the locomotive shed offered refreshment and railway history to the evening.

Our amazing artists in the unique setting of Veturimuseo created an atmosphere that left no one complaining (feedback survey 2025).

The vibe was relaxed, open, and safe. “It was pure joy of live music” (Kulttuuritoimitus 2025). “Teemu Koli Kokemus rocked all the way” (Akaan Seutu 2025), and their energy carried through the night.

After a brilliant start, the festival’s own production featured an 11‑member Manse Rock explosion with Juice Leskinen’s songs interpreted by Pyry Joki and other vocalists.

Tammela 33100 brought storytelling vibes with their lyrics, and the evening ended with a bang thanks to Finland’s future rock star and rare stage performer, Simo Huominen.

The best part was the atmosphere and the performers. Great to see some ‘lesser‑known’ artists too. The Veturimuseo setting was used really well.”

“The arrangements worked excellently. The sound was great, drinks were easy to get, and there were plenty of shady spots.” (feedback survey 2025).

Collaboration with Museoveturiseura ry worked wonderfully, and using the area as a festival venue wouldn’t have been possible without the active efforts of the association.

Sound at the Risteysasema (Junction Stage) stage was handled brilliantly by Riemurinne Oy, while Kulttuuripilttuu (Cultural Shed) was managed by Oskari Vettenranta and Jetro Klinga. The festival’s technical execution was coordinated by Konsta Virtanen, whose leadership turned visions into reality.

As producer of Kulttuuripilttuu, Emilia Granroth did an incredible job transforming the locomotive shed into a concert space.

Our virtuoso performers Lauri Schreck, Kylmäsoitto, and the evening’s finale Cellomania showed how rock can bend to kantele, accordion, and cello. “The best part was the beautiful setting, relaxed atmosphere, and mocktails” (feedback survey 2025).

The entire 5000 m/s production team thanks its audience for an amazing evening at the first 5000 m/s Music Festival. Welcome to experience 5000 m/s on July 24!
